Security Guard Stabbed At Nightclub: Newark PD  A security guard was stabbed at a nightclub in Newark on Monday, Dec. 30, authorities said. At 2 a.m., a private event was ending at Lit 21 at 1034 McCarter Highway, Newark Public Safety Director Eugene Miranda said. As the security guard escorted people from the club’s lower level, the suspect walked into that area from upstairs and refused to leave, Miranda said. 17-Year-Old Swimmer Brings Newark Police To Passaic River: Cops A 17-year-old was swimming in the Passaic River on the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 10, authorities said. At 7:50 a.m., Newark police responded to Bridge Street and McCarter Highway on a report of the teen in the water, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Police made contact with the swimmer when he emerged from the water, Fragé said. The swimmer is reportedly uninjured, Fragé said. This incident remains under investigation, Fragé said.

At 5:31 a.m., police patrolling McCarter Highway and 3rd Avenue attempted to stop a silver 2023 Acura, but the driver refused and a pursuit ensued, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.  The vehicle was reported stolen from Belleville on Sunday, Aug, 18 and was sought in connection with a shooting in Paterson on Monday, Aug. 19. Man Shot In Newark, Police Say A man was shot in Newark on the evening of Monday, May 27, authorities said. At 8:09 p.m., police responded to McCarter Highway and Clay Street and found an adult man who had been shot, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said.  The victim was transported to University Hospital and is in stable condition, Fragé said. The shooting remains under investigation.
