Newark Murder Suspect Who Had New Trial Due To Improper Witness Testimony Convicted Again A 36-year-old Newark man has been convicted of murder for a 2018 homicide in Newark after his initial conviction was reversed in 2022, authorities said. Hassan Todd was found guilty in the shooting death Elijah Roberts, which occurred on Sept. 22, 2018 on Avon Ave. in Newark, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens II said. A second victim was shot but survived the incident.
