Rescuers Save Dog Caught In Tide In Jersey Shore Inlet, Firefighters Say A dog was rescued from an inlet in Cape May County, officials said. The Stone Harbor and North Wildwood fire departments responded to the Hereford Inlet for a water rescue at around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, the Stone Harbor firefighters union said in a Facebook post. Firefighters received a report that a dog named Bruno was swimming far from shore and in distress. A boat crew went to the inlet and quickly found Bruno struggling to swim in the tide. Franklin Zeigler, 29, was charged with third-degree animal cruelty, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest, the North Wildwood Police Department said in a news release on Monday, July 22. Officers responded to a report of an animal cruelty incident at Morey's Piers on Saturday, July 6, and witnesses said Ziegler had decapitated the shorebird.
