Man Killed In Fiery Overnight Newark Crash
A man was killed in a fiery crash early Sunday, Oct. 27 in Newark, police said. The male driver was found inside a vehicle that caught fire after crashing into a tree and colliding through a nearby residential gate at Weequahic Avenue near Bergen Street around 3:30 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Firefighters extinguished the fire and the man was pronounced dead. No other injuries have been reported. No further information is available.

Brooklyn Man Forced NJ Child Into Prostitution: Feds
A 30-year-old Brooklyn man pleaded guilty to forcing a New Jersey girl into prostitution on Tuesday, Oct. 22, authorities said. In 2019, Soauib Butcher brought the girl by train to New York City, where he instructed the victim to perform oral sex for money on a rooftop in Brooklyn, US Attorney Philip Sellinger said. Several days later, Butcher brought the victim to Elizabeth where, from August 2019 to January 2020, the victim stayed with Butcher and another person in a series of motel rooms, Sellinger said. Three juveniles were apprehended following a pursuit with Newark police on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 23, authorities said. At 7:46 p.m., police at Hunterdon Street and 14th Avenue attempted to pull over a suspected felony vehicle, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Two people are in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle outside Arts High School in Newark on the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 23, authorities said. Newark Man Fatally Struck by Paterson Police Officer: Prosecutor
A 51-year-old Newark man was killed after he was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a Paterson police officer on the evening of Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said. The police officer struck a pedestrian as they were exiting the Paterson Police Department parking lot at Memorial Drive, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In Charge Isa Abbassi said. The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
