Tractor-Trailer Fire Shuts Down Most Lanes On Route 1 In Edison (Developing) A tractor-trailer caught fire in Edison, shutting down most lanes of a busy road during morning rush hour, officials said. The fire happened on Route 1 south of the intersection with Grandview Avenue on Thursday, Sept. 5, the state Department of Transportation said. An alert was posted about the incident at 8:28 a.m. The NJDOT reported all northbound lanes of Route 1 were closed. Three southbound lanes were shut down, leaving only one lane open. School Bus Crashes Into Vehicle In Hunterdon County: Njsp Nobody was injured after a school bus collided with a vehicle in Hunterdon County on the afternoon of Tuesday, Sept. 3, authorities said. At 3:25 p.m., troopers responded to the crash on Pattenburg Road and Bellwood Avenue in Union Township after the bus struck the right side of the Subaru, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.

Tatiana Liceth, a 26-year-old Elizabeth resident, and Edisson Mauricio, 24 , were crossing the roadway at Routes 1 and 9 and Maple Avenue, when a tractor trailer that was stopped at the light proceeded forward when the southbound light turned green, a spokeswoman for the city said.  Liceth and Mauricio were fatally struck, while the driver remain on scene, authorities said. The crash remains under investigation, authorities said.
