The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force is investigating a fire that left a man seriously injured in Jersey City overnight. The Jersey City Fire Department received a 911 call for a fire at 366 1⁄2 7th Street in Jersey City around 2:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Firefighters found an unresponsive 57-year-old male inside the home with serious injuries. A 62-year-old Sussex County first responder was killed when his UTV was struck by a pickup truck in upstate New York on the evening of Sunday, Sept. 1, authorities said. The New Jersey State Police Department has released video footage of an aerial rescue of a cliff-diver who suffered serious injuries in a West Milford accident. The NJSP's aviation unit and TEAMS unit, a special operations unit, responded to an area of West Milford Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 28, for a diver who was seriously injured in rugged terrain. Pedestrian Survives Train Strike In Hudson County: NJ Transit
A pedestrian was truck by a train in Harrison on the early morning of Sunday, Aug. 18, authorities said. At 12:50 a.m., Morris and Essex train 6907 struck the pedestrian just east of Broad Street Station, NJ Transit said. The train had departed New York Penn Station at 12:34 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Dover at 2:13 a.m., NJ Transit said. The pedestrian was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, NJ Transit said. An investigation is ongoing, NJ Transit said.

3-Year-Old Critical After Accidental Shooting: Newark PD
A 3-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in Newark on the late afternoon of Thursday, Aug. 15, authorities said. At 5:47 p.m., police responded to a residence on Wainwright Street near Bragaw Avenue and found a 3-year-old boy who had been shot and two other children unharmed, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Two men were recently arrested and charged for assaulting another man with a motorcycle helmet outside a bar in Guttenberg in June, authorities said.
