Man Killed By Police In South Jersey Identified, Details Released
Authorities have released details and identified the man killed by police on Saturday, Oct. 19in Burlington County. Officers responding to smoke coming from a Pemberton home on Woodland Avenue around 3:20 p.m., New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. They were notified that a man later identified as Marvin Taylor, 57, had a firearm and was in the backyard. Officers commanded Taylor to drop the weapon, as they positioned themselves in the wood-lined area behind the home. Photos: Firefighters Battle 77-Acre Forest Fire In Morris County
Firefighters are working to contain a 77-acre wildfire in Morris County this weekend. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service said that 30% of the fire along Jacobs Road in Rockaway Township had been contained as of Sunday morning, Oct. 20. The fire threatened 30 structures but none of them were evacuated. A helicopter capable of dropping 350 gallons of water dropped 15 loads of water on the fire Saturday, Oct. 19, the NJFFS said. Birthday Party Fire Kills 2 Girls In Newark (

The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. A 22-year-old man is in custody, and two others are at large, following a New Jersey home invasion and high-speed pursuit in a stolen BMW, police said. A 40-year-old fugitive captured 14 years after shooting a man in the face in Ocean County will remain held pending trial, authorities announced.
