Two residents from California were sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to burglary following an armed home invasion in Point Pleasant, authorities announced Friday, Aug. 28.
At 1:38 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025, Point Pleasant police responded to a residence on Barton Avenue for a report of a home invasion with a gunshot having been fired, Billhimer said.

A masked man armed with a handgun and machete was arrested after pointing the gun at a driver in Clifton, authorities said.
Eddy Calixto, 47, of Clifton, approached an occupied vehicle near Knapp Avenue and Schoonmaker Place at approximately 2:47 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, Clifton Police Detective Lt. Robert Anderson said.
Wearing black clothing and a black ski mask, Calixto knocked on the vehicle's window and pointed a handgun at the person inside, according to a 911 caller, Anderson said.

Raven is lucky to be alive after she was locked in a shed for four days with no food or water in Rockaway.
Last week, a man who stole an Amazon run and was on the run, stashed Raven inside a shed, Buddha Dog Rescue & Recovery said. Officers were not alerted to Raven's plight Saturday, Aug. 22, forcing her to spend four days trapped with no food or water.

Former Fox Affiliate TV Anchor Admits To Stabbing Mother To Death
A former local television news anchor whose career included several stations across the country has admitted to a crime that could keep her behind bars for decades.
Angelynn “Angie” Mock, 48, pleaded guilty Friday, Aug. 21, to first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office. Mock faces a presumptive life sentence with eligibility for parole after 25 years.
Her sentencing is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5.
