Solution To The Stink: $7M Project Approved To Reduce South Jersey Landfill's Foul Odors A multimillion-dollar project to cap 16 acres of the Egg Harbor Township landfill is moving forward, aiming to reduce odors and address concerns raised by Atlantic County residents, officials said. The Atlantic County Utilities Authority (ACUA) will permanently cap 16 acres of the landfill, the agency said in a news release on Tuesday, Nov. 26. The $7 million project came after years of complaints from nearby residents, especially in Absecon and Pleasantville. Pedestrian Killed On Jersey Shore Roadway, Police Say A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle along a Jersey Shore roadway over Labor Day Weekend, authorities said. Absecon police were called to Route 30 (Absecon Boulevard) west of the Delilah Road overpass around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, local police said. The pedestrian was killed and the driver remained on scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
