A 37-year-old Paterson man punched his girlfriend's 1-year-old baby in the stomach, then bribed his other two children with a toy and money to lie about it after the severely injured infant was hospitalized, authorities said. Jeanandre Desir gave his 5-year-old daughter a Barbie doll and his 8-year-old son $10 to cover for him, according to documents on file in Superior Court in Paterson. A Garfield school bus aide and a jailed Wallington man awaiting trial on charges of sexually assaulting a pre-teen were charged with contacting the victim. A Jersey City man was charged with child abuse for burning his niece and nephew, ages 6 and 9, with a cigarette lighter, authorities said Tuesday. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Dec. 28 got a tip from the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency alleging two Jersey City children were being abused, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. PA Driver Admits Retaliating For NJ Traffic Ticket With Bogus Liens Against 32 Officials
A Pennsylvania man admitted that he filed bogus liens against 32 current or former public officials in New Jersey after he got a traffic ticket in Morris County. Solomon Lightner, 41, of East Stroudsburg, took a deal, pleading guilty to witness tampering in exchange for what will be probation, rather than go to trial. Lightner also terminated the filings, authorities said. A Dover man was sentenced to a decade in state prison for assaulting a 16-year-old and tampering with a witness, authorities said. Levi Young, 20 -- who previously pled guilty to aggravated assault (strangulation), child endangerment and witness tampering -- was sentenced last Friday in Superior Court, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.
