22-Year-Old Drove Drunk, Caused Head-On Crash: Hackettstown PD
A 22-year-old Hackettstown man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a car crash on the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 2, authorities said.
At 4:56 p.m., officers responded to Bilby Road and Willow Grove Street for a two-car crash, Hackettstown police said. A Honda Accord driven by Nicholas Abato crashed head-on into a Ford pickup, driven by an 18-year-old Stanhope resident, police said.
While speaking to Abato, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Abato was arrested and found to have a blood-alcohol content of .34%, police said.

Missing: Endangered Hackettstown Man, 68, Last Seen Leaving Medical Center, Police Say
Seen him? Police have issued an alert for a missing and endangered Hackettstown man.
Thomas F. Cyphers, 68, was last seen leaving Hackettstown Medical Center heading southbound on Willow Grove Street (County Route 604) toward Main Street between 4 and 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 16, police said.
He was wearing blue jeans, brown boots, and a green and black checkered shirt.
Cyphers stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 141 pounds, and has blue eyes and gray hair, police said.

DWI Driver Slams SUV Into Hackettstown Home, Prompts Evacuation, Police Say
A Maryland man was intoxicated when he crashed an SUV into a Hackettstown home, requiring the residents to evacuate due to the resulting gas leak, authorities said.
Elmer Geovanni Felipe Y Felipe, 29, was behind the wheel of a 2004 Honda CRV when he slammed into the side of a home on the 100 block of Willow Grove Street around 12:15 a.m. Sunday, Hackettstown Police said.
The impact caused damage to a furnace vent, two gas meters and the support post for the porch, police said.
