The former G&H property in Sussex County may be getting new Chipotle, Starbucks and Panera locations. The Town Council in Newton made residential and commercial ordinances for a PILOT (‘Payment in Lieu of Taxes’) plan at the location on Water and South Park Drive, NJHerald reports. High winds contributed to difficult conditions for Phillipsburg firefighters battling a house blaze Sunday afternoon. Town Council President Randy Piazza Jr. spotted smoke billowing from 63 Heckman St. while driving to an appointment shortly before 12 p.m., he told LehighValleyLive.com. Hackettstown Mayor Resigns 3 Months Ahead Of Final Term End
Hackettstown Mayor Maria DiGiovanni will resign three months earlier than the scheduled end of her final term. DiGiovanni made the announcement Wednesday on RNJ’s The Local Impact program, WRNJRadio reports. She had previously said she would not be running for a fourth mayoral term.
