Husky Frightened By Fireworks Rescued 1.5 Miles Off Jersey Shore (

A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. 17 Puppies Rescued By Pennsylvania SPCA Over Welfare Concerns
The Pennsylvania SPCA rescued 17 dogs including five unweaned puppies from a Lancaster County property over welfare concerns last week. Acting on a tip from a concerned citizen, the PSPCA removed 16 German Shepherd-type dogs and one Siberian Husky from a property on Bell Road home in Christiana last Wednesday, officials said. The PSPCA had previously been to the property in November while assisting the Bureau of Dog Law with a warrant. A $1,000 reward is being offered for anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for dumping a crated dog in a wooded New Jersey area. The Associated Humane Societies/Popcorn Park ACO Maria Cymanski responded to a call for an abandoned dog near 1450 West Bay Ave., in Barnegat on Monday, Dec. 28.
