Bathroom Fire Evacuates Morris County Elementary School
A Morris County elementary school was evacuated as crews responded to a bathroom fire on Monday, May 1, authorities said. The Morris Township Fire Department responded to the blaze at the Woodland Avenue School on Johnston Drive, Morris County Prosecutor’s Office spokesperson Meghan Knab told Daily Voice. Initial reports came in for a heavy smoke condition at the school around 11:30 a.m. The MCPO Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit also responded. A sharp-eyed Lyndhurst special police officer nabbed a 15-year-old boy from Brooklyn who authorities said made a 911 call threatening to blow up the township high school. A Bergen County communications dispatcher told Lyndhurst police shortly after noon on Oct. 7 that an unknown caller using anonymizing technology claimed there was a bomb inside the high school, Detective Lt. UPDATE: A teen has been charged with terroristic threats after allegedly causing the evacuation of a Lehigh Valley high school early on Monday, Oct. 24, authorities announced. The 17-year-old — whose name was not released — was identified as the source of the threat that came into Lehigh Valley Charter High School for the Arts, requiring a full evacuation around 8:20 a.m., Bethlehem Police said. Unfounded Threat Clears Ridgewood Private School
A private school in Ridgewood was evacuated following what police said was an unfounded threat. The unspecified threat came in via email to The Holmstead School, a non-profit extended-year middle/high school on Hope Street, on Monday, Sept. 12, Capt. Forest Lyons said.
