: Irate Resident Tries To Run Down Police: Wyckoff PD
An irate 69-year-old Wyckoff resident tried to run down a trio of police officers after threatening them with a screwdriver, authorities said. It took two days, but borough police tracked down and arrested Vincent Hartung in Paterson, Lt. Joseph Soto said. Officer Joseph Benanti had originally gone to Hartung’s Russell Avenue home this past Monday, May 1, to discuss an earlier incident with him, the lieutenant said. Multi-Vehicle Rush-Hour Pileup Closes Route 208
Four vehicles in all were involved in a rush-hour pileup that kept a stretch of northbound Route 208 closed for an hour, authorities said. An inattentive driver merging onto the northbound highway from Russell Avenue caused the chain-reaction crash shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Wyckoff Police Lt. Kevin Kasak said. One person was taken to the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening, he said. UPDATE: A 21-year-old private ambulance worker was seriously injured when he got out of the rig while it was moving during an argument on Route 208, authorities said. The incident "had been arguing with the driver" when he opened the front passenger door and exited the moving vehicle shortly after 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the southbound side of the highway between Ewing and Russell avenues in Wyckoff, Police Lt. A Wyckoff man was intoxicated when he crashed his 1964 Corvette and left it there, township police said. Gerald Gallipoli, 69, had to be treated at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood for facial injuries following the June 10 crash, Lt. Joseph Soto said. A witness told Sgt. Wyckoff PD: Hackensack Police Nab DWI Driver Who Fled Wrong-Way Crash On Route 208 Overpass
UPDATE: An unlicensed DWI driver from Paterson who fled a wrong-way crash that sent a Jeep rolling on a Route 208 overpass in Wyckoff was captured soon after in Hackensack, authorities said. Sabrina Y. Zegarra, 21, was driving an unregistered Mitsubishi Montero that crossed the double-yellow line on Russell Avenue and struck the Jeep around 5 p.m. Aug. 21, Lt. Joseph Soto said.
