Man Airlifted To Hospital After Car Overturns On Route 80 In Morris County: Njsp
A 27-year-old Rockaway man was seriously injured after a two-car crash caused his vehicle to overturn on Route 80 on Thursday, March 21, authorities said.
At 7:34 p.m., on Route 80 west in Roxbury Township, a Ford vehicle collided with the back of a Dodge, ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said.
The driver of the Ford suffered serious injuries and was medevacked to an area hospital, McNair said. No other injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
Driver Injured After Car Crashes Into Tree, Bursts Into Flames On Route 80: Njsp
A driver was injured on Route 80 in Morris County after they crashed into a tree on the evening of Thursday, Feb. 22, authorities said.
At 9:35 p.m., a driver lost control of his Chevy SUV while traveling on Route 80 westbound in Roxbury Township, Troy McNair of the New Jersey State Police said. The car ran off the roadway and collided with a tree, McNair said.
As a result of the crash, the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, McNair said. The driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to an area hospital, McNair said. The crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
Storm Knocks Power To Thousands In North Jersey
Thousands of residents in northern New Jersey were without power as of Tuesday, Feb. 13 amid the snow storm that dropped several inches on the region.
The JCP&L outage map shows 2,390 had no power in Warren County, mainly in Harmony Twp., Lopatcong, Phillipsburg, Pohatcong, and White Township as of 11:35 a.m.
In Somerset County, nearly 900 residents had no power, mostly in Branchburg (790).
Nearly 1,500 Hunterdon County residents were also in the dark. Those residents without power are mainly residents of Clinton, Holland, Lebanon, and Readington.
Restoration times varied.
Update: One Driver Killed, Another Seriously Hurt In Wrong-Way Route 80 Crash
UPDATE: One driver was killed and another was seriously hurt following a Tuesday morning wrong-way crash on Route 80, state police confirmed.
Francis Merrick, 75, was driving a Jeep Compass east in the westbound lane when the vehicle crashed head-on into a Hyundai Elantra driven by Robert Nardone, 80, near milepost 28.3 in Roxbury Township just after 7:30 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry told DailyVoice.com.
Nardone, of Hackettstown, was killed in the crash, while Merrick, of Tafton, PA, was seriously hurt, Curry said.
