A 22-year-old Union City man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Route 80 early Saturday, Jan. 18, authorities said. A Honda driven by a 22-year-old Belleville man was heading west when it veered off the road and struck a tree in Knowlton near milepost 6.2 around 3:05 a.m., according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan. The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash, while one passenger, a 19-year-old Passaic man, suffered moderate injuries. Driver, 19, Killed In Route 80 Crash
A 19-year-old driver was killed in an early-morning Route 80 crash when he rear-ended a box truck stopped in the shoulder, authorities said. Cameron Ray, of Flanders, was heading west in a Subrau when he rear-ended the truck near milepost 38.2 in Denville around 5:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. Ray died as a result of the crash while the box truck driver suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

A 27-year-old Denville man was arrested and charged after he struck a police officer while fleeing on Sunday, Oct. 20, authorities said. While officers were conducting a traffic stop on Indian Road, it was discovered the driver, Liam Harrigan, had an active NCIC Warrant out of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Denville police said. As officers attempted to take Harrigan into custody, he fled from them in his vehicle, police said. A driver was hospitalized after his vehicle overturned on Route 80 in Morris County on the evening of Thursday, Oct. 10, authorities said. The driver of a Nissan Rogue lost control of his vehicle while driving on Route 80 East in Mount Olive Township, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The car veered off the right side of the roadway and overturned into the woods, Marchan said. The driver was transported to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Marchan said. The 22-year-old Lodi, CA man was heading east when he ran off the left side of the roadway, struck the guardrail, went into a ditch, and collided with a tree just after 6:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Troopers responded to a report of a dog running on Route 80 eastbound in Allamuchy Township, Jeffrey Lebron a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. Speeding Route 80 Driver From Paterson Had 20 Pounds Of Cocaine, Nebraska State Troopers Say
A Paterson driver who was stopped for speeding on Route 80 in Nebraska was caught with 20 pounds of cocaine, state troopers said. Pablo Suruy Hernandez, 40, had the coke stashed in various compartments of his BMW X5 when he was stopped in York County around noontime Saturday, March 23, according to the Nebraska State Patrol. Hernandez remained held Tuesday in the York County Jail, some 1,300 miles from Paterson. He's charged with both possession and possession with the intent to deliver the drugs.

A 27-year-old Rockaway man was seriously injured after a two-car crash caused his vehicle to overturn on Route 80 on Thursday, March 21, authorities said. At 7:34 p.m., on Route 80 west in Roxbury Township, a Ford vehicle collided with the back of a Dodge, ran off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned, Troy McNair, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the Ford suffered serious injuries and was medevacked to an area hospital, McNair said. No other injuries were reported and the crash remains under investigation, McNair said.
