Residents Hospitalized, Dog Rescued In Morris County New Year's Day House Fire Several residents were hospitalized and a dog was rescued in a Morris County house fire on New Year’s Day, authorities said. Fire crews responded to the blaze at a 4-family home in Dover around 4:30 a.m., according to the Dover FMBA. Firefighters stretched a supply line and worked to douse the flames, which engulfed both the interior and exterior of the home, the fire company said. Crews then made an “aggressive interior push” to extinguish the bulk of the fire on the first floor. Update: Driver Dead, Passenger Seriously Hurt In Route 46 Crash With Tow Truck A driver died and a passenger was seriously injured following a Thursday afternoon crash with a tow truck on Route 46, police confirmed. A flatbed tow truck was traveling west on Route 46 in Rockaway Borough when a 4-door sedan on Mannino Drive attempted to make a left turn onto Route 46 East, resulting in a collision at the intersection just after 12:10 p.m., Police Lt. Update: 8 Saint Clare’s ER Patients Evacuated Due To Mechanical Fire, Heavy Smoke Eight patients were evacuated from the emergency room of Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville due to heavy smoke conditions from a mechanical fire Monday afternoon, authorities said. The fire broke out in an air handler on the roof due to a mechanical failure around 12 p.m. Monday, Denville Police Capt. Jeffrey Tucker said. Once the fire was doused, the heavy smoke spread through a portion of the building and led to patients’ evacuation, Tucker said.
