An SUV slammed head-on into a telephone pole on busy Broad Avenue in Ridgefield Wednesday afternoon, leaving it tilted over the roadway and sending the driver to the hospital. Ridgefield Man Who Trafficked Child Porn Gets 5 Years, No Parole, In Federal Prison
A Ridgefield man must spend the next five years in federal prison for collecting and distributing videos and other images of child sex abuse. Because there's no parole in the federal prison system, Malcolm Salamanca, 29, will have to serve the entire term handed down Monday by U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark. Salas also sentenced Salamanca to five years of supervised release and imposed a special assessment of $10,000 under the Justice for Victims of Human Trafficking Act. Homeless Man, 34, Found Dead In Ridgefield
An autopsy was scheduled Saturday to determine what killed a homeless man whose body was found in Ridgefield. The 34-year-old victim's body was found Friday along the railroad tracks near Linden Avenue beneath the Route 46 bridge, authorities said. They suspect he may have fallen and hit his head. The Bergen County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Unit Homicide Squad was investigating along with Ridgefield police. The county Medical Examiner collected the body for the autopsy. Trucker Charged With Vehicular Homicide, Assault In Fatal NJ Turnpike Crash
A chain-reaction crash on the NJ Turnpike in Ridgefield that claimed the life of a Long Island man was caused by a Seattle truck driver, said State Police who charged him vehicular homicide. UPDATE: A pickup driver from North Bergen and a Ridgefield resident were both hospitalized with minor injuries after the truck slammed into a house, authorities said.
