Police from neighboring towns converged Thursday afternoon to capture a pair of burglars who broke into a Northvale home. A 911 call alerted police to a burglary in progress on Snedeker Place at 1:40 p.m. May 18, Northvale Police Chief Howard Ostrow said. Ostrow’s officers and their colleagues from Norwood were the first on the scene, the chief said. Norwood police immediately grabbed a suspect in the backyard of the burglarized home, Ostrow said. Officer Struck By Car On South Jersey Highway, Hit-Run Driver Charged
A 52-year-old woman has been charged after she struck a police officer on a New Jersey highway and then fled the scene, authorities said. Rachel Glatt was heading south on Route 130 when she struck Robbinsville patrolman Connor Boyle, 25, who was assisting a disabled driver near Voelbel Road at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, the officer's department said in a release. A police vehicle and a civilian's SUV collided on a rain-slicked Paterson street before dawn Saturday. A city police sergeant sustained injuries that weren't considered life-threatening after the front driver's fender of the vehicle t-boned the rear seat area of a Nissan at Memorial Drive and Ellison Street around 6 a.m. April 1. A delivery driver told police he accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake, sending his van barreling nose-first into the Hackensack River on Monday. The 45-year-old driver from Pennsylvania refused aid after climbing out the back. He didn't immediately receive any summonses. A tow truck pulled the van from the shallow, murky riverbank near the Taco Bell on South River Street. There was minor property damage to a railing, police said.

A 25-year-old Clifton man is charged with stabbing his 22-year-old cousin to death on New Year’s Eve. Motasem Ramadan fought with police who arrested him following the fatal stabbing at a home across the street from a city elementary school around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, authorities said. Virginia Walmart Shooting: Seven Including Gunman Dead In Rampage, Police Say
A shooting rampage left seven people dead including the gunman at a Chesapeake, VA Walmart Tuesday, Nov. 22 — just two days before Thanksgiving, authorities said. Police used tactical force to enter the Battlefield Boulevard Walmart at Sam's Circle on reports of an "active shooter" at 10:12 p.m., and found multiple bodies, a Chesapeake police spokesman told reporters. Authorities later confirmed seven victims, including the shooter, and one person near the entrance of the store.

Car Thief Kills One Person, Hurts 3 In Wild Central Jersey Pursuit: AG
A car thief being pursued by police crashed into several civilian vehicles killing one person and hurting three others overnight in Central Jersey, authorities said. A Marlboro officer was pursuing the car stolen from a local home when it struck unrelated civilian vehicles around 2:15 a.m. near the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Route 9 South, the State Attorney General's office said. A thief was steps from fleeing with a fellow traveler's wedding band at Newark Airport when TSA and Port Authority officers teamed up to catch him, authorities said. Told that the ring was missing from a screened bin, a Transportation Security Administration supervisor reviewed surveillance video and saw the thief snatch it, the TSA's Lisa Farbstein said.
