Dog Struck, Killed, 80-Year-Old Owner Injured Crossing Ridgewood Street
A small dog was killed and an 80-year-old Ridgewood woman apparently suffered a broken bone when both were struck crossing a village street, authorities said. They were crossing Broad Street when a Jeep Liberty driven by a 39-year-old Mahwah woman turned from East Ridgewood Avenue and struck both of them around 10 a.m. Monday, Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. The village woman was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center in Paterson with what appeared to be a broken ankle or leg."Unfortunately, the victim's dog was killed in the accident," Lutchke said. Two pedestrians were struck at the monument circle in Englewood early Wednesday by a sedan driven by an 88-year-old city resident, authorities said. The men were in the crosswalk at the World War Memorial, crossing West Palisade Avenue from Bennett Road toward Tenafly Road, when they were struck by the 2000 Toyota Corolla as it headed east on West Palisade shortly after 7:30 a.m., Lt. An 83-year-old pedestrian from Waldwick was hospitalized -- and got a ticket -- after she was struck in Hackensack by an SUV driven by an 80-year-old Westwood woman, authorities said. The victim needed ankle surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center after she was struck on Berry Street by a Ford Edge whose driver had made a left from southbound State Street at 2:17 p.m. Sunday, Police Lt. Anthony Natale said. Police issued a summons to the pedestrian for jaywalking, Natale said.

Pedestrian Airlifted After Crash Near Phillipsburg School (

A pedestrian was airlifted after being hit by a car in Phillipsburg Wednesday evening, developing reports say. The pedestrian was struck near Phillipsburg Elementary School on Warren Street shortly before 5:30 p.m., according to initial and unconfirmed reports. A medical helicopter was requested to take the victim to a nearby hospital with a landing zone at the accident scene, the report said. Man Seriously Hurt After Being Struck By Pickup Truck While Crossing Rt. 80, State Police Say
A 49-year-old man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck while attempting to cross Route 80 Saturday night, state police said. Michael Gachko, of Summit, had parked his vehicle on the shoulder of the eastbound lanes before entering the highway and crossing over to the westbound lanes, where he was struck by a Chevrolet pickup truck near milepost 36.6 in Rockaway Township just before 9:50 p.m., NJSP Trooper Brandi Slota told DailyVoice.com. Pedestrian Airlifted After Being Struck By Car In Hunterdon County: Police
A pedestrian was airlifted with serious injuries after being struck by a car in Hunterdon County, authorities said. The pedestrian, whose ID was not released, was struck on Case Boulevard in Flemington around 5:25 p.m. Friday, Raritan Township police said in a release. The victim was airlifted via Northstar to Robert Woods Johnson University Hospital for treatment of serious injuries, police said. The accident remained under investigation by the Raritan Township Police Department and the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office.

Mercer County Man, 64, Fatally Struck By Car: Police
A 64-year-old Mercer County man was killed after being struck by a car before dawn Sunday, authorities said. Officers responding to the pedestrian crash on Route 1 North at the Square of West Windsor found the man, of Princeton, unresponsive just after 6:20 a.m., West Windsor Police said. A 79-year-old Ridgefield Park pedestrian who was struck by a van while in a crosswalk Friday died of her injuries, authorities said.
