: Missing Morris County Man, 71, Found Dead In Reservoir
A Morris County man missing since Thursday night was found dead in a nearby reservoir, authorities confirmed. The search was initiated when the 71-year-old Randolph man’s vehicle was found parked off Woodland Road by the Clyde Potts Reservoir in Mendham Township around 11 p.m., and his family could not confirm his whereabouts, Chief Ross Johnson said in a release. Emergency crews searched the area until about 4 a.m. and reconvened Friday morning, when the man’s body was found near the shore around 11:30 a.m., Johnson said. Eight patients were evacuated from the emergency room of Saint Clare’s Hospital in Denville due to heavy smoke conditions from a mechanical fire Monday afternoon, authorities said. The fire broke out in an air handler on the roof due to a mechanical failure around 12 p.m. Monday, Denville Police Capt. Jeffrey Tucker said. Once the fire was doused, the heavy smoke spread through a portion of the building and led to patients’ evacuation, Tucker said. A firearm was recovered and three suspects were in custody after leading police on a wild chase through Morris County yards overnight, authorities said. It began around 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, when Parsippany officers responded to an attempted vehicle break-in on Prospect Road, Parsippany Police Sgt. Brian Conover said.
