Teen Airlifted In UTV Accident On Sussex County Farm: Police
An 18-year-old male was airlifted to the hospital following a crash on a Sussex County farm on Monday, Aug. 26, local police said. The male was riding on the back of the UTV, a larger type of ATV, which was being used to perform work on a farm on Layton Lane in Sparta, Sparta Police Capt. Tom Snyder said. The UTV made an unexpected turn and the victim lost his balance, falling off and hitting his head, Snyder said. He lost consciousness and was flown to the hospital. "The operator of the UTV was fully cooperative with patrol units and showed no signs of intoxication," Snyder said.

Felon Out Of Jail For 1 Week Nabbed In Armed Robberies, Tries To Hide In Dump Truck: Sparta PD
A PA felon had been out of jail for less than a week when he ran from Sparta police wanting to question him about armed robberies and was found hiding in a dump truck bed following a “lengthy” search with local and state agencies. Sparta Police stopped a tan Chevrolet Impala being driven erratically on Route 15 North in Sparta around 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, Lt. John Lamon said. Another Sussex County Dog Dead In Bloody Bear Attack
For the second time this month, a dog was attacked and killed by a bear in one Sussex County town, authorities said. The Sparta man told police the bear attacked his 5-year-old Yorkie, Tommy, in his Layton Lane backyard around 10 p.m. just after midnight on Thursday, Jan. 20, Sparta Police Lt. John Lamon said. Tommy was outside to go to the bathroom and didn’t return when he was called, Lamon said.
