Update: Two Cats, Dog Killed In Bergenfield House Fire Two cats and a dog died in a pre-Christmas fire that severely damaged a Bergenfield home. Firefighters who responded within three minutes were met by flames on the first floor of the 2½-story Lunn Avenue home shortly after 1 p.m., Bergenfield Fire Chief Edward J Kneisler III said. "Because the fire was extending to the upper floors, a second alarm was requested," the chief said. Kneisler declared the fire under control in about 45 minutes. The victim became trapped at a home on Beaver Run Road in Wantage just before 2:35 p.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. The victim, alert and conscious, was being airlifted via Atlantic Air 3 to a local hospital as a precautionary measure, Goez said.

Man Tells Police He Was Robbed Of $10K In Jersey City Police say robbers may have specifically targeted a Jersey City man Thursday morning and gotten away with a large amount of cash.  Officers responded to 484 Mercer St. a little before 10 a.m. on a report of a robbery, a police spokeswoman said. The 61-year-old victim said he was robbed of about $10,000 and the robbers used a stun gun.  The victim was treated at an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, the spokeswoman also said.  No other information was immediately available Thursday afternoon.
