Two sketch comedy troupes are set to do battle in Hackensack and only one can be declared the winner. "Bragging Rights Sketch Comedy" is performing at the Hackensack Performing Arts Center on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The brainchild of Matt Algozzini, a Maywood resident, the show will feature two teams, the red team and blue team, performing comedy skits, with the audience picking the winner. A Bergen County Regional SWAT team seized a troubled man who'd barricaded himself in a Hackensack apartment on Saturday. The 21-year-old man's girlfriend called police to a Newman Street apartment in the Oratam Court development between Atlantic and Sussex streets -- which was the city's first public housing project when it was built in 1951 -- the morning of Jan. 27. An Englewood ex-con who was sentenced to probation just two months ago in connection with an assault was caught by Rochelle Park police with a stolen -- and loaded -- gun, authorities said. Officer Chris Kiszka stopped a Honda Accord on Essex Street around 12:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 22, because passenger Zachary Anderson, 31, and two of his companions weren't wearing seatbelts, Police Capt. Residents, responders and the family cats made it out OK as Maywood 's bravest doused a house fire. The blaze ignited in the rear of the 1½-story wood-frame house at the corner of Palmer and Coolidge avenues shortly before 7:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13. A Hackensack man who works at Teterboro Airport was busted on child endangerment charges, authorities said. Reynaldo Ariel Tarquino was arrested on his 29th birthday last Friday, Jan. 5, after being reported to law enforcement authorities by the state Division of Child Protection and Permanency, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Wednesday, June 10.
