Franklin Man Fired Gunshots Onto Neighbor's Property: Police
A 52-year-old Franklin man was arrested on Saturday, July 27, after he fired gunshots that damaged his neighbor's property, authorities said.
Officers arrived on Corkhill Road and determined Kevin Kaye was intoxicated when he was handling the rifle, causing damage to his neighbor's fence, above-ground pool, children's clubhouse and garage, Franklin Borough police said.
The residents and their children were in the yard and swimming pool at the time shots were fired, police said.

A Sussex County man driving a stolen vehicle was found with a loaded handgun during a traffic stop, authorities charged.
Jose M. Colon, of Hamburg, was charged with second-degree eluding, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun, and several other related indictable offenses following the traffic stop on Monday, May 30, Franklin Borough Police said in a release on Wednesday, July 6.
Colon, 19, was being sought by police in Hamburg and Hardyston after allegedly stealing a second vehicle within the span of eight hours, the release said.

Sussex County Man, 35, Wrote And Cashed Bogus $3K Check, Police Say
A Sussex County man has been charged after police say he wrote and cashed a bogus check for more than $3,000.
Michael Springer, 35, allegedly deposited a check for more than $3,000 to himself and started drawing against it without verifying the check's validity in July 2021, Franklin Borough police said in a Thursday release.
Springer then failed to provide compensation to his bank after being advised that the check was not honored, police said.
Springer, of Vernon Township, was charged with third-degree passing bad checks.

Prosecutor: NY Man, 43, Pleads Guilty To Fentanyl Possession Charge In Sussex County
A NY man pleaded guilty to possession of Fentanyl, authorities said.
George Handelong, 43, entered the guilty plea to a charge for third-degree possession of CDS during a hearing Thursday at the Sussex County Courthouse in Newton, Prosecutor Francis A. Koch said.
Handelong, of Port Jervis, admitted to possessing Fentanyl in Franklin on Oct. 15, 2020, Koch said.
Handelong will be sentenced on May 20.
Franklin Borough police also assisted with the investigation.
West Milford Man, 21, Charged With Stealing Sussex County Friend's Car
A Passaic County man borrowed a vehicle from an acquaintance in Sussex County and refused to give it back, authorities said.
Corey Vantassel Jr., 21, of Oak Ridge, had borrowed a vehicle from an acquaintance on Cedar Drive on May 22, Franklin Borough Police said in a news release.
Vantassel refused to return the vehicle to the owner, who then made several failed attempts to contact him, authorities said.
The vehicle was reported stolen on Tuesday, May 26 around 4 p.m. and recovered on Blumis Avenue/County Road 639 in Sussex Borough around 5:30 p.m., authorities said.
