A Morris County wildfire that residents say may have been caused by fireworks set off on Halloween night had spread to nearly 140 acres as of Friday, Nov. 1. North Arlington Neighbors Brawl With Gun, Baseball Bat: Police
A knock-down drag-out fight between North Arlington neighbors ended with both injured and in handcuffs. The dispute apparently was over fireworks, authorities said. Nicholas Frank, 59, was sent to the Bergen County Jail after he pulled and pointed a gun during the brawl with Rutherford Place neighbor Jaoquim G. People shooting off fireworks apparently were responsible for igniting a fire at a Fort Lee apartment complex, authorities said. Members of the borough Fire Prevention Bureau were investigating what responders said was an accidental July 4th blaze at Arrive Fort Lee on Crest Lane. Firefighters doused the flames, which had spread to the building from two Dumpsters ignited by fireworks shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday. A Siberian Husky fleeing from noisy fireworks was rescued by Monmouth County Sheriff's Officers off the Jersey Shore. Caiden, a 10-year-old dog, was saved after swimming about a mile and a half off Union Beach, authorities said. Sheriffs' Officers Michael Forgione and Kasey Collins located Caiden and brought him on board in the Raritan Bay, navigating shallow waters to reunite him with his grateful owner. Authorities are seeking the public’s help identifying a man they say stole hundreds of dollars’ worth of fireworks from a Lehigh Valley Walmart on the Fourth of July. A tractor trailer carrying fireworks overturned causing some to set off across the roadway on Interstate 287 late Sunday, June 26. Parts of the highway were closed near Exit 14 and Route 22 in Bridgewater as of Monday morning. No injuries were reported.

Neighbors: July 4th Partyers Don't Realize Englewood House Is On Fire, Good Samaritan Dials 911
Well over 100 attendees at an Englewood 4th of July party apparently didn't realize the house was on fire until a passerby dialed 911, neighbors said. The good Samaritan said she "happened to be walking my grandson" on West End Avenue when she "saw the left side of the house on fire" around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. S. Plainfield Cancels Labor Day Parade, Explosive Devices Found Near Route
Officials in South Plainfield Monday have cancelled a Labor Day parade and other activities over what officials described only as a "security concern." Officials did not immediately provide any information about the nature of the threat. A large police presence was seen Monday in Spring Lake Park and the parade route was closed off, according to a published report.
