Firefighters Douse Overnight Closter Blaze Closter firefighters doused an overnight house blaze. They were met by heavy fire coming from the attack of the 2½ -story wood-frame home on Jason Woods Road, just off Homans Avenue, shortly before 2 a.m. Monday. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Demarest. All fire companies were released shortly after 4 a.m. No injuries were reported. Fire officials were trying to determine the cause. East Rutherford House Fire Doused Firefighters responding to an early Sunday night blaze limited the damage at an East Rutherford home. The first on the scene found heavy smoke in the attic from an electrical fire that ignited in the second-floor ceiling of the Vreeland Avenue home, responders said. Firefighters quickly got water on the flames, keeping the blaze from spreading, they said. No injuries were reported. Mutual aid responders included firefighters from Wallington. Update: Massive Passaic Warehouse Blaze Stopped From Reaching 50 Tons Of Chlorine UPDATE: Authorities on Saturday said they'd finally gotten a massive industrial complex fire in Passaic under control nearly a dozen hours after it broke out. More than 200 firefighters fought the 11-alarm blaze, which forced evacuations of nearby homes, sent potentially dangerous smoke into the air and prompted officials to urge residents to keep their windows closed.
