2 For 2! NJ's Sean Baker Wins Another Oscar For 'Anora' The Academy Awards are becoming the Sean Baker show. The man who was born in Summit and grew up in Short Hills won the Oscar for Best Film Editing for "Anora," at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 2. Baker previously won for Best Adapted Screenplay. "Anora" is about a Russian stripper who impulsively marries the son of a Russian oligarch, only for his family to try and get the marriage annulled. Two Garden Staters Net Oscar Nominations New Jersey will be well represented at the 96th Annual Academy Awards. Thelma Schoonmaker, a graduate of Ridgewood High School, was nominated for Best Film Editing for "Killers of the Flowers Moon." Schoonmaker is a longtime collaborator of director Martin Scorsese and has been nominated for nine Oscars, winning for "Raging Bull," "The Aviator" and "The Departed." "Killers of the Flowers Moon" is a 206-minute epic Western about the murder of the Osage people in 1920s Oklahoma after oil is discovered on their tribal land.
