Riders Suffer Broken Bones As Segway Scooters Fold Mid-Ride, Sparking Massive Recall Two popular Segway electric scooters are being recalled after dozens of riders were injured when the handlebars or stem collapsed mid-ride, sending some crashing to the ground. More than 220,000 Segway Ninebot Max G30P and Max G30LP KickScooters are affected by the recall, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a news release on Thursday, Mar. 20. Segway has received 68 reports of folding mechanism failures, according to the CPSC. The incidents include 20 injuries such as abrasions, bruises, lacerations, and broken bones. At 9 p.m., firefighters responded to the 200 block of Center Street in Port Morris on a report of smoke coming from a basement, Roxbury Fire and First Aid Company 2 said.  Upon arrival, an electric scooter was found to be on fire in the basement, firefighters said. The woman apparently had turned down an aisle when the man exposed himself at the CVS on West Palisades Avenue shortly before 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 1, Englewood Police Lt. Fred Pulice said. Scooter Rider Critically Injured In Passaic Crash An electric scooter rider was clinging to life Tuesday morning after being struck in Passaic, responders said. Witnesses said the late-30s victim ran a red light and was struck by a minivan at the intersection of President and Parker Streets shortly after 10:30 a.m. He was unconscious when taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, responders said. The driver, meanwhile, remained at the scene and cooperated with police, who notified the Passaic County prosecutor's fatal accident team. City firefighters and EMS also responded.
