22-Year-Old Drove Drunk, Caused Head-On Crash: Hackettstown PD
A 22-year-old Hackettstown man was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated following a car crash on the afternoon of Wednesday, Oct. 2, authorities said.
At 4:56 p.m., officers responded to Bilby Road and Willow Grove Street for a two-car crash, Hackettstown police said. A Honda Accord driven by Nicholas Abato crashed head-on into a Ford pickup, driven by an 18-year-old Stanhope resident, police said.
While speaking to Abato, officers detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said. Abato was arrested and found to have a blood-alcohol content of .34%, police said.

A 58-year-old Chester man was arrested and charge with driving while intoxicated and reckless driving after being involved in multiple car crashes on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 26 in Mount Olive, authorities said.
At 5:28 p.m., officers responded to Pleasant Hill Road for a report of a black Toyota driving erratically, Mount Olive police said. The vehicle was located on Main Street, where it was involved in a crash just prior to officers' arrival, police said. Neither driver was injured in the crash, police said.

A Sparta police car was struck by a drunk driver on the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 3, authorities said.
At 10:09 p.m., officers were on the scene of a motor vehicle crash on Route 15, Sparta police said. While police were assessing the damage from the crash, a gray Ford, driven by 43-year-old Nicole Romeo, a Hamburg resident, struck their patrol vehicle, officers said.
As police tended to Romeo, they detected the odor of alcohol on her breath and noted her speech was slurred, officers said. Romeo told police she had a glass of wine earlier in the day, officers said.

At 2:59 p.m., officers were at 100 Main St. when they saw a FedEx delivery truck crashed into a utility pole, Hackettstown police said. The driver, David Fiallos, a 46-year-old Long Valley resident, was traveling westbound on Route 46 when he dropped his cellphone, which he was using to locate an address, police said.

A 30-year-old former police officer has pleaded guilty to charges filed in connection with a double-fatal wreck he caused while off duty last summer, authorities announced.
Amitoj Oberoi, 29, of Somerset, was employed as an Edison police officer at the time of the accident on Route 27 in Franklin Township that killed Carlos Perez-Gayan, a 24-year-old Somerset resident, and Victor Cabrera-Francisco, a 20-year-old North Brunswick resident, as previously reported by Daily Voice.

A 41-year-old Independence resident was arrested and charged with DWI after her vehicle crashed into a pole on Sunday, March 3, authorities said.
At 3:19 a.m., Hackettstown police responded to 299 Mountain Ave. for a single car crash, officers said on Facebook. Police were advised the vehicle had struck a pole and power lines were hanging low, blocking traffic on Mountain Avenue,, officers said.

An out-of-state driver with no license, registration or insurance was apparently intoxicated when she rear-ended a pickup truck at a busy Cliffside Park intersection, then climbed out of her overturned SUV and walked away, authorities said.
Caitlin Riggs, 36, of Wakefield, RI was headed south on Anderson Avenue at Edgewater Road when her 2015 Nissan Versa slammed into a 2011 Dodge Ram shortly after 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, Deputy Police Chief Vincent Capano said.
The Versa landed on its roof outside the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home, while the pickup had its bed crumpled and a tire flattened.

A Ridgewood driver was drunk when his SUV hit two parked vehicles and landed on its side in Glen Rock, authorities said.
Jason R. Romine, 40, was rescued through the moon roof of his 2002 Ford Expedition by Glen Rock Police Officer T. J. Graziani following the crash at the T intersection of Rock and Midwood roads shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
The pickup, a nearly 20-year-old Honda CR-V and a newer-model Honda Accord were all towed from the scene with extensive damage, witnesses said.

Ramsey Mom Charged With Leaving Scene Of Franklin Lakes DWI Crash
A Ramsey motorist was intoxicated when her SUV hit a median and she kept going, Franklin Lakes police said.
Alyson Allen, 42, was driving a 2020 Dodge Durango that hit the concrete divider on Parsons Pond Road around 7:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, Franklin Lakes Police Capt. Mark McCombs said.
Responding officers found her after the Durango became disabled about a quarter-mile away, the captain said.
