Police in Hunterdon County are seeking clues after two burglars used a sledgehammer to bust through the glass doors of a Rt. 31 convenience store, fleeing with cash and several cartons of cigarettes. The burglary occurred at US Fuel at 1707 Route 31 in Clinton Township around 4:20 a.m. on Monday, August 28, police said. UPDATE: Two people were hurt and another remained in critical condition after a collision between two Jeeps at a Hunterdon County intersection Monday afternoon, authorities confirmed. The crash occurred at the Route 31 intersection with Regional Road in Clinton Township just before 2:35 p.m., Hunterdon County Prosecutor Renée Robeson said in a Tuesday release. Two children and a school bus driver were sent to a nearby hospital after the vehicle overturned and crashed into a historic Hunterdon County building early Wednesday, authorities said. The Clinton Township bus was driving 17 children on its morning route northbound on Haytown Road when it veered off the right side of the road, struck a boulder and historic outbuilding, and overturned near Evergreen Court, township police said.
