There were few dry eyes in the Bergen County Animal Shelter Tuesday, Aug. 6, as a dog who ran from a crash scene in New York two months ago was reunited with her owner. Salem Mannequin has been tirelessly searching for her yellow lab Nyla since the June 7 crash on the Cross Bronx Expressway at White Plains Road, she tells Daily Voice. She was in a hospital bed at Jacobi Medical Center hours after the accident when she realized, her baby was missing. Wanted On Warrants: Trio Nabbed With Drugs, Dog In Hasbrouck Heights
A suspicious vehicle call led Hasbrouck Heights police to a drug-carrying, canine-accompanied trio wanted on warrants, authorities said. Officers Christopher Connors and Sgt. Dom D’Amico found the Subaru sedan in a Boulevard parking lot shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 21, Lt. John Behr said. Officers Paul Albanese, Michael DeSimone and John Mullins joined them along with Wood-Ridge Officers Mark Torsiello and Devin Ochiuzzo, the lieutenant said. Abandoned twin German Shepherds were found on successive nights in the same area of the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Alpine, and police suspect both may be related to a third who turned up in nearby Closter. “Neither had a collar or identification tags and they weren’t micro-chipped,” PIP Police Sgt. Skittish Kitten Rescued From GWB Traffic Available For Adoption
A kitten who was rescued from traffic on the lower level of the George Washington Bridge was available for adoption, authorities said. A motorist called GWB Port Authority Police Command station after scooping up the skittish kitty, who'd been dodging cars and other vehicles Monday afternoon, authority spokeswoman Lenis Rodrigues said. Port Authority police who retrieved the feline named her Highway, she said. They then arranged residence at the Bergen County Animal Shelter, where Highway was available for adoption, Rodrgues said Tuesday.

Deaf, Blind Dog Dumped In Bergen Industrial Area Last Year Dies
UPDATE: A deaf and blind senior dog who authorities said was dumped from a car in Teterboro last summer by her Fort Lee owner died Tuesday. Someone in another car saw Bruna, 16, being dumped on Industrial Avenue on Sept. 1 and gave authorities the license plate number and a description of the vehicle, Bergen County SPCA officials said at the time. A Good Samaritan found the black and white Boston Terrier during a search and brought her to the Bergen County Animal Shelter.
