Newton police responded to Spring Liquors for a reported fight around 5:10 p.m. Saturday, where they found the group of people and a man, later identified as Vincent Scardino, of Andover, Newton police said.

"All four victims indicated that they were physically assaulted by Scardino after he had been yelling derogatory names at the females and making inappropriate statements towards them," police said. "None of the victims were familiar with Scardino."

Some of the victims were treated at the scene by the Newton First Aid Squad.

Scardino -- who had an open container of rum on his bag -- was arrested and served with two disorderly persons offenses.
