Downed Wires Shut Route 23: All Lanes Closed
All lanes of Route 23 were closed Tuesday, Dec. 17 due to downed wires. The DOT site said the incident was reported in the northbound lanes, north of Paterson Hamburg Turnpike in West Milford. All lanes were closed as of 12:25 p.m.

Truck Topples Pole In Bloomingdale
A Bloomingdale street is shut down after a truck collided with a utility pole around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. Bloomingdale police reported that the crash on Leary Avenue resulted in a complete closure of the road to all traffic as crews work to clear the scene and repair the damage. The department shared a photo of the scene on Instagram.

Dad's Route 80 Death Spreads Shock, Sadness
Shock and sadness spread following the sudden death of a 41-year-old dad on Route 80 this week. Troopers responded to the crash in the westbound lanes of the highway in Wayne at approximately 10:51 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. A Ford Econoline van, driven by Namon Melvin, 41, of Orange, had rear-ended a Honda passenger car near milepost 53.7, Marchan said. Crash Investigation Shuts Routes 19, 80 In Paterson
A crash investigation closed a portion of Route 19 and Route 80 on Sunday morning, Nov. 3 in Paterson, the NJDOT site shows. The crash happened around 11 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 19, south of Route 80. All lanes were closed as of press time. The eastbound lanes of Route 80 at Exit 57 were also closed.

Driver, 19, Killed In Route 80 Crash
A 19-year-old driver was killed in an early-morning Route 80 crash when he rear-ended a box truck stopped in the shoulder, authorities said. Cameron Ray, of Flanders, was heading west in a Subrau when he rear-ended the truck near milepost 38.2 in Denville around 5:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. Ray died as a result of the crash while the box truck driver suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

A 52-year-old motorcyclist was killed in an early-morning crash on Route 280 in Hudson County, police said. Kyle Silas, of Orange, was heading west on a Fly Wing electric motorcycle when he struck a Ford sedan near milepost 16 in Kearny around 4:35 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Silas was ejected then run over by a Dodge, Lebron said. He died as a result of the accident.

At 10:04 p.m., a BMW motorcycle traveling eastbound on Route 78 in Greenwich Township struck the back of a 2017 Toyota Camry, Charles Marchan, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The first crash happened when a motorcycle and commercial truck collided just before 5 a.m. in the westbound lanes of Route 46, Clifton police said. The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries.
