Costco Submits Plans For Route 17 Site Of Shuttered Stop & Shop In Paramus, Mayor Says The future of the shuttered Stop & Shop at the border of Ridgewood on Route 17 in Paramus is becoming clearer. On Thursday, Aug. 22, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza announced Costco submitted plans for the site. Stop & Shop shuttered in 2022 while Kmart closed in 2021. "Well, it is official," the mayor wrote on Facebook. "As of this morning Costco Wholesale has submitted their plans to the Planning Board for a location on Rt. 17S (the Stop & Shop/KMart)." As of 2:30 p.m., thousands of residents were without power and multiple roadways were closed due to downed wires and related crashes. Update: Route 17 Ramp To Route 4 In Paramus Reopened After Box Truck Crash A ramp at Routes 4 and 17 in Paramus was reopened shortly before 10 a.m. Saturday after a box truck tipped onto its side a few hours earlier. The driver climbed out after the leased truck crashed on the cloverleaf ramp from northbound Route 17 to westbound Route 4 around 7:30 a.m. June 8, responders at the scene said. Paramus EMS members took him to Hackensack University Medical Center with what they said were minor injuries. Borough police and firefighters were first at the scene of the crash near the flyover.
