Popular Tofu Product Recalled Across 29 States, Including NJ, Over Packaging Concern
A popular plant-based food is being pulled from stores and online distribution after the manufacturer discovered a potential problem involving its packaging.
Hodo Inc. announced Monday, Aug. 31, that it is voluntarily recalling select lots of its 8-ounce Lightly Fried Chili Crisp Tofu because printing ink from the packaging may have migrated into the food.
The Hodo recall notice says the affected product was distributed to wholesalers, retailers, and consumers in 29 states, including New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.

A New Jersey business owner suffered life-threatening injuries when he fell from a roof and landed on a railing that impaled him through his side over the weekend, according to authorities and a fundraiser launched by a longtime friend.
Stavros Makris, 24, of Westfield, fell from the roof of a home on the 300 block of Wychwood Road around 1:34 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Westfield Police Chief Christopher Battiloro said.

DC Police Officer Dies Of Gunshot Wound Sustained At Police Station
A Washington, DC, police officer has died after suffering a gunshot wound at a local police station, the department confirmed.
The officer, who was not identified, was critically wounded at the Metropolitan Police Department's Second District station on the 3300 block of Idaho Avenue NW just after 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, an MPD spokesperson tells Daily Voice. The officer was taken to a hospital, where he died.
"Nothing currently indicates that another party was involved," the spokesperson said.
