Fishing Boat Accident Closes Two Mile Bridge
The Middle Thorofare Two Mile Bridge was closed due to a boat crash on Saturday, Aug. 31, officials said. Wildwood Crest Mayor Don Cabrera posted a statement around 6:15 a.m. saying the 85-year-old bridge was struck by a fishing vessel. It had not reopened as of 9 a.m. "If you are traveling from the Wildwoods or into Wildwood’s early this morning and plan to use this bridge you may want to take alternate routes," the mayor said. The bridge had been closed earlier this month after the drive shaft broke.

$54M Renovation Preserves Doo-Wop History At Jersey Shore Resort Opening This Summer
A new beach resort in Cape May County will have a modern twist on historic architecture reminiscent of the doo-wop era. Madison Resorts will open its second Jersey Shore resort in Wildwood Crest on Thursday, May 16, the company said in a news release. Jersey Shore Boardwalks Get $100M For 'Vital' Upgrades
Jersey Shore communities are getting $100 million in state grants to make crucial repairs to their boardwalk, officials said. The Boardwalk Preservation Fund money will go to 18 municipalities in Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties, Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Friday, Feb. 23. The state Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) will give out the funds to invest in "state-of-the-art materials that increase storm resiliency and ensure longer lasting infrastructure." Dogs Up For Adoption After Escaping Hoarding Situation In Atlantic County
Several dogs rescued from an Atlantic County hoarding situation are ready to find their forever homes. Some of the 25 dogs saved from a Galloway home are now up for adoption, the township's police department said on Thursday, Feb. 15. The dogs and one cat were found in poor conditions at a Zurich Avenue home on Saturday, Feb. 10. Officers also discovered a dead dog on the property. Madison Resorts will open the largest resort in Cape May County next year, officials announced. Madison Resorts has purchased the Royal Hawaiian in Wildwood Crest for $13.4 million and will invest another $7 million for renovations.
