Is NJ's 'Best Burger' Overhyped?
It's more common for White Manna to earn some type of national ranking than not. The no-frills Hackensack burger joint, famous for its tiny sliders and building on River Street, has yet again been named the best in New Jersey, this time by "Readers Digest." While White Manna certainly has its fair share of rave reviews, some critics say the longtime hamburger joint, well, isn't all it's cracked up to be. "Used to be great went twice in the past 3 weeks and food was trash service was slow and grease was outrageous," one Daily Voice reader said. "Other places have better food they lost their…

Ex-Giants Manning, O'Hara Make Comic's Day At NJ Burger Icon
Chris Distefano left White Manna with more than a burger: He's got a photo with former New York Giants Eli Manning and Shaun O'Hara -- and quite a story to tell. "I look like a make-a-wish," he joked on an Instagram photo of the three outside of the River Street burger icon. Distefano went on to rehash the meet-up on hisYouTube channel where he hosts the "Chrissy Chaos" podcast. The comic said that Manning was professional and "kind of a G." "He was launching burgers off my chest and I haven't changed my jersey yet." Watch the full episode below (warning: contains explicit language). …

Popular North Jersey Burger Joint Crowned 2nd Best Burger In America
A popular North Jersey burger joint recently visited by a celebrity has been crowned second best in the U.S. White Manna on River Street in Hackensack took the No. 2 spot on the Daily Meal's rundown of "101 Best Burgers in America." "White Manna’s juicy burgers are topped with onion and cheese and served on a Martin’s potato roll. Pair your burger with a side of crispy fries or, if you’re a pickle fiend, add a 12-ounce cup of pickle chips," the website says. Founded in 1939 at the World's Fair, White Manna moved to Hackensack in 1946. The eatery has been featured on The Food Network's…

Hadid In Hackensack: Model Bella Grabs Ice Cream, Sliders With Friend In NJ
Bella Hadid is getting a taste of Hackensack. The 23-year-old model and aunt to sister Gigi's newborn daughter posted photos of herself and a friend named Daniel getting ice cream at Cranberry Junction and sliders at White Manna. "This is Bella & Daniel," she wrote on an Instagram post Thursday. "And you're watching Diners drive ins and dives: Best Friend Edition." The model was difficult to recognize because of her mask but was very polite when she ordered, Cranberry Junction told Daily Voice. Hadid ordered the cherry Italian ice and her friend got the banana pudding.

Food Writer 'Obsessed' With New Jersey Hot Dogs Runs Down Best In State
One is a lesser-known spot a busy highway. Another is highly-acclaimed by the late Anthony Bourdain. All of the hot dog spots Robert Simonson included in his article "Why I’m Obsessed With New Jersey Hot Dogs" have one thing in common: They're each uniquely delicious. Simonson makes the case that New Jersey's dogs are just better than anywhere else. Even the dogs in New York are comparable to the ones he ate growing up in the Midwest, he said. These spots are the ones to try in New Jersey, according to Simonson's report: Hot Dog Johnny's (Belvidere) Jimmy Buff's (West Orange, Kenilworth…

Iconic Burger Joint Crowned Best In New Jersey
White Manna in Hackensack is taking home yet another title. The tiny burger joint on River Street was named the best in New Jersey for the second year in a row by the Daily Meal. The tiny, red and white, block building on the banks of the Hackensack River was purchased by Louis Bridges in 1946. Currently closed for indoor dining due to coronavirus, you can still get the small sliders to go. "Walk up to the tiny counter, place your order with the grillman, and watch as he smashes a small bit of beef onto the flat-top with a handful of thin-sliced onions then sandwiches it into a Martin’s p…
