Former South Jersey police officer and beloved father Stephen Joseph Houbary died after a "tragic accident" at his home in Vineland on Friday, Nov. 18. He was 49. The accident occurred when Stephen was on a skid steer construction vehicle during a backyard project alone on the 4000 block of Ascher Road around 4:30 p.m., according to NJ.com, which cites Vineland Deputy Police Chief Steven Triantos. South Jersey native and beloved brother, son, uncle, and friend Douglas Arthur ‘Dougie’ Leek died unexpectedly on Monday, Oct. 17 at age 30. Born in Vineland, Dougie grew up in Hopewell Township before attending Cumberland Regional High School and later Cumberland County College, his obituary says. Dougie went on launch his own business called ‘Dougie Fresh Landscape’ and quickly became known as an incredibly hard and impassioned worker and master of his craft. International Probe Leads To South Jersey Man's Arrest On Child Pornography Charges: Report
An investigation by Australian Federal Police led to the arrest of a South Jersey man on child porn charges, NJ Advance Media reports. Carlos A. Castro Jr., 37, of Vineland, allegedly shared sexually explicit images of a child on social media, the outlet said. An investigation involving the US Department of Homeland Security showed Castro uploaded photos of the victim to a group chat on instant messaging app Kik, the outlet said. Five daycare workers in South Jersey have been arrested on accusations they abused children their care — sometimes by force-feeding or aggressively restraining them, according to authorities and various news reports citing police papers. Body Of NJ Man Missing With Dementia, 54, Found: State Police
THe body of Roy Osmundsen, 54, of Cape May Courthouse, has been found, authorities said. He suffered from dementia and his family had offered a $20,000 reward to find him. Osmundsen was last seen on Sept. 27, at approximately 9:51 p.m., after he walked away from a vehicle which was located on State Highway 55 south in the area of mile post 35 in Vineland, New Jersey State Police said. The man shot in the head outside of a South Jersey bar allegedly by a former US Marine over the weekend has died, and his organs will save the lives of others, family members tell Daily Voice.
