A 57-year-old Short Hills Tesla driver died in a multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor trailer on Route 24 in Summit Thursday, May 19, authorities said. David M. Baum was traveling in the right lane on the eastbound side of the highway when he was struck by a Volvo tractor trailer, causing a chain-reaction crash near milepost 9 just after 2 p.m., New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. The death of a 41-year-old Bayonne woman who was ejected then run over by a tractor trailer last weekend on the New Jersey Turnpike has left those who knew her reeling. Olga Armijo was heading north in a Toyota Corolla when she was struck by a Honda Accord around 4:15 a.m. Sunday, April 24 near milepost 105.9 in Newark, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said. Catalytic Converter Thefts Rising In Central Jersey: Police
Police in Central Jersey said there's been a rise in thefts of valuable car parts, particularly catalytic converters. On Feb. 19, a resident of Sheridan Avenue in Middlesex Borough reported the theft of a catalytic converter from a Toyota Prius. The reported loss was $5,500, police said. 2 Crash Victims Hospitalized In Cumberland County:

Two people were seriously injured in a two-car crash in Cumberland County, authorities said. The crash occurred at 5:05 p.m. Wednesday at Route 553 and Route 629 in Lawrence Township, New Jersey State Police said. Preliminary investigation shows a Toyota Camry was traveling south on CR 629 and entered the intersection when a Chevrolet Silverado that was traveling south on County Route 553 struck the Toyota, Trooper Brandi Slota said. Crash With Injuries Reported On NJ Turnpike In Central Jersey:

A crash with multiple injuries occurred in Central Jersey, authorities said. The crash was reported at 9:29 a.m. on the New Jersey Turnpike southbound near mile-marker 74.8 in South Brunswick Township, according to a New Jersey State Police spokeswoman said. An initial investigation reveals a Toyota was traveling southbound when it was struck in the rear bumper by another vehicle, Trooper Brandi Slota said. A 32-year-old passenger from the Bronx was seriously hurt after being ejected from their car in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike in Burlington County overnight, authorities said. The pedestrian struck by a car earlier this month in Middlesex County has died, authorities said. Keith Butterfield, 66, passed away at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on Monday evening. At 8:11 a.m. on Nov. 8, South Brunswick police responded to a pedestrian struck on New Road near the Kendall Park Fire House.
