Eleven players with New Jersey ties were selected in the draft from Thursday, Apr. 25 to Saturday, Apr. 27 in Detroit. Children's Heart Surgeon From South Jersey Dies, 40: 'Cared Deeply For His Patients'
A Linwood native who was a renowned children's heart surgeon has died, according to a memorial fundraiser. Dr. Louis Capecci died at 40 years old on Monday, Mar. 11, 2024, his obituary said. The cause of his death was not mentioned. Dr. Capecci was the first pediatric heart surgeon in the history of Kapiolani Medical Center for Women & Children. The hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii, hired him in February 2022. Nicole Larue Walsh, a longtime teacher in Philadelphia schools and a Levittown mother of three, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 16, loved ones said in her obituary. She was 47. A lifelong Levittown resident, Walsh graduated from Neshaminy High School in 1994 before continuing her studies at Temple University, her obit says. Temple University students can get free rides from Uber this year. The ride-share company is providing $200,000 in free rides to students looking to leave unsafe situations, according to the school's student-run newspaper, Temple News. Jude Chacko, a Philadelphia resident and Temple University alumnus, died on Sunday, May 28. He was 21. Chacko was found with a gunshot wound to the head a Port Richmond street early on Sunday, Philadelphia police told Daily Voice.
