Vehicle Fire Shuts Down I-287 South In Central Jersey, Significant Delays Expected: Njdot A vehicle fire on Interstate 287 in Edison Township has forced the closure of all lanes and the right shoulder, causing significant traffic delays during the morning commute, officials said. The vehicle fire erupted on I-287 South just south of Exit 2 at around 9:35 a.m., the state Department of Transportation said. All lanes and the right shoulder were closed as emergency crews responded to the scene. Drivers in the area should expect delays of 10 to 15 minutes and consider alternate routes if possible. A crash at about noon Wednesday toppled the pole and wires across the 900 block of Route 70 westbound in Evesham, initial reports said. Fatal Motorcycle Crash In Burlington County Authorities are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in South Jersey. The crash occurred about 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Route 130 southbound near Andover Road in Cinnaminson, according to initial reports.  The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Update: Tree Downs Wires, Burns Route 17 Pavement UPDATE: Southbound Route 17 remained closed temporarily after a transformer fire downed wires and burned a portion of the roadway Wednesday night in Waldwick. Police initially closed the highway north at Allendale Road and south at Cameron Road around 9:15 p.m. Several area power outages were reported. Police, firefighters and the state Department of Transportation responded.
