'Alarming' Surge In Homicides Prompts Atlantic City Police Union's Request For More Officers After four homicides in Atlantic City in the first week of 2024, the city's police union is calling for more officers to handle the "recent surge" in violence. $3.75M Federal Grant Will Get Atlantic City 30 New Police Officers Atlantic City will be able to hire 30 new police officers thanks to a $3.75 million federal COPS grant, officials said.
