: Tactical Units, Hackensack Police Respond To Another Bogus Call From Same Number
Yet another in a series of bogus "emergency" calls brought a SWAT team and other responders to a Hackensack home while forcing yet another high school lockdown early Tuesday afternoon. The May 3 "swatter" used the same bogus local phone number that was connected to a series of threats to Hackensack High School in March, city Police Capt. Darrin DeWitt said. Students, staff and particularly parents and law enforcers had grown irritated by the recent string of calls, including one in which a threat was made to shoot up the school. Borough schools were placed on lockdown and then sheltered in place as police investigated what turned out to be a rumor that a man carrying an assault rifle -- and possibly two -- was seen on Hoffman Avenue near the Berkeley Street Elementa…

Paterson High School Lockdown Ends Quietly Following Report Of Gunman Seeking Revenge
UPDATE: The words "active shooter" terrified some parents of students at a Paterson high school -- when, in fact, it was the term used by authorities to describe the law enforcement response to a report Wednesday that an assault victim had gone there with a gun. City Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said no one with a gun showed up at John F. Kennedy High School, which was temporarily locked down before city police and Passaic County tactical units arrived. They established a perimeter as part of an "active shooter" response and began searching the school and surrounding area whil…
