Tornado Watch Shifts, Now Covers These Counties Across NJ, PA As Debby Creeps In
The National Weather Service has shifted its tornado watch across New Jersey and Pennsylvania as Hurricane Debby creeps in.
In New Jersey, the tornado watch is in effect through 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 and covers Bergen, Essex, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties in North Jersey.
In Pennsylvania, the tornado watch is issued in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon, Monroe, and Bucks counties.
The tornado threat for South Jersey has diminished since the initial watch was issued early Friday morning, which has since been canceled.

A 44-year-old hit-and-run driver had a toddler in the back of his car when he struck and killed a bicyclist in Salem County early this month, police said.
Douglas W. Nutt, 62, of Upper Pittsgrove, died at the crash scene on Shirley Road after being struck by Deandra L. Brown Palmer, of Swedesboro, around 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, according to two affidavits of probable cause and New Jersey State Police.
Palmer, who had a 3-year-old child in the back seat of his car during the Upper Pittsgrove crash, is accused of recklessly causing Nutt's death and eluding police, police papers say.…

A 64-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his passenger was seriously injured in a crash in Salem County, authorities said.
Troopers responded to a crash on Sunday, June 16 at 12:10 p.m. on Route 49 in Quinton Township, New Jersey State Police said.
Based on a preliminary investigation, a Honda SUV was traveling westbound on Route 49. A Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Route 49.
In the area of milepost 11.1, the Honda turned left, and the Harley-Davidson impacted the Honda, State Police said.

Murder-suicide: 2 Men Found Dead In South Jersey
A pair of men are dead after an apparent murder-suicide in Salem County, authorities said.
Juniel Feliciano-Lopez, 24, of Pennsville, died of multiple gunshot wounds and was found in a vehicle, according to Salem County Prosecutor Kristin Telsey.
The suspected gunman, Henry Junior Kivelier Montero, 23, of Philadelphia, died at the scene of a single self-inflicted gunshot wound, the prosecutor said.
The shootings occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in the 100 block of South Broad Street in Penns Grove, Telsey said.

Coastal Flood Warning In Effect For Jersey Shore Due To Offshore Storm, Full Moon
Many parts of New Jersey are under a coastal flood warning with an offshore storm and a full moon expected to fuel high tides, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service issued the coastal flood warning in Atlantic, Burlington, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties at 6 a.m. on Monday, Mar. 25. The NWS said the warning would be in effect until 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Mar. 26.
A storm out in the Atlantic Ocean will increase offshore wind speeds and make waves larger, according to the NWS. That will combine with Monday night's full moon to create "widespread tidal flooding."

Motorcycle Crash Victim, 23, ID'd By Police In South Jersey
Police have identified the Salem County motorcyclist killed when he collided with a school bus earlier this month.
Joel Morales, 23, of Carneys Point Township, was riding north on Route 130 at about 2 p.m. on Feb. 1 when he collided with a bus pulling out of Ross Enterprises, near Washington Avenue, according to Carneys Point Police Detective Joseph Racite.
Morales was pronounced dead at the scene, Racite said.
There were no students aboard the bus at the time, Racite said. The bus driver was not injured, he said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation, he said.

Salem County Man Indicted For Sexually Assaulting 12-Year-Old Girl Is Still At Large
A Salem County grand jury has indicted a Pittsgrove man for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl, authorities said.
Emeterio Alavez-Cruz, 33, is accused of attacking the girl in June 2021, according to prior news accounts.
New Jersey State Police issued a call for public assistance in locating Alavez-Cruz, who was known to have connections to Rio Grande, Wildwood, Bridgeton, Penns Grove and New Castle, Delaware.
Alavez-Cruz is described as a Hispanic, about 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 150 pounds.

Passenger, 25, Dies In Collision With Dump Truck In South Jersey
A 25-year-old passenger was killed in a collision with a dump truck in Salem County, authorities said.
The crash occurred at 5:32 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11 at the intersection of Garden and Centerton roads in Pittsgrove Township, according to New Jersey State Police.
A 24-year-old Camden resident was driving a Kia northbound on Centerton Road and the Kenworth dump truck was heading west on Garden Road, police said.
