Bernie Marcus, Billionaire Co-Founder Of The Home Depot From NJ, Dead At 95
Bernie Marcus, who helped found The Home Depot and grew up in Newark, died on Monday, Nov. 4 at the age of 95, the hardware chain announced.
Born to Russian Jewish immigrants, Marcus dreamed of being a doctor while growing up in Newark, according to an obituary posted by The Home Depot. His family couldn't afford medical school, so he attended Rutgers University and received a degree in pharmacy, his obituary reads.

New Jersey officially has 10 fewer Stop & Shop stores.
The 10 underperforming locations closed were among 32 nationwide that the grocer announced would be closing by year's end.
Stop & Shop has kept 350 stores open, including 47 in New Jersey.

Smile, You're On Body Camera: TJ Maxx To Equip Employees To Fight Shoplifting
To fight the recent rise in shoplifting and retail theft, shoppers could see store security employees wearing body-worn cameras to help catch thieves red-handed.
TJX, the parent company of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Serria, HomeSense, and HomeGoods, said will begin equipping some employees with body-worn cameras similar to those worn by police, the Boston Globe reported. The company started testing the initiative last year.

Job Lot plans to open its sixth New Jersey store on property across from Freehold Raceway Mall in the fall, OSJL officials said Thursday.

Neiman Marcus Markdown Store Among 17 Closing Across U.S.
Neiman Marcus has announced the closure of four department stores and 17 of its "Last Call" locations across the U.S. including one in Paramus.
The luxury department store chain filed for bankruptcy in May.
The Paramus store at Bergen Town Center, the 16 other markdown stores and the four department stores are expected to close by the fall of this year.
The other "Last Call" locations closing are in New York, Florida, Washington, California, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Maryland and Nevada.
