A South Plainfield man is facing attempted murder charges after police say he intentionally drove off the road, crashed through a backyard, and landed in a creek with a child in the car.
South Plainfield Police received multiple 911 calls about an erratic driver near Cromwell Place on Thursday, Feb. 20, at 2:19 p.m., authorities said. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle speed through a backyard on Stratford Avenue, cross a field, and come to rest partially submerged in a creek.

An 18-year-old Willingboro resident was arrested and charged after he entered a home at gunpoint on Saturday, Dec. 28, authorities said.
At 7:45 p.m., Jazihe Williams entered a residence on Ballard Lane and proceeded to the second floor, where the homeowner was located in the main bedroom, Willingboro police said. A 43-year-old Pleasantville man was arrested on the early morning of Sunday, Oct. 6 after being involved in a shooting in Atlantic City in August, authorities said.
At 6:26 a.m., officers observed Juan Maldonado on his bicycle on the 2500 block of Pacific Avenue, Atlantic City police said.
