A New Jersey man who used an axe and battery-operated pole saw to kill his dad had been battling addiction and mental illness, according to family and police paperwork.
A blood-covered axe and battery-operated pole saw were found near 61-year-old Gregory Meyer’s body at the Old Denville Road home he shared with his 33-year-old son, Kyle, around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 24, according to an affidavit for probable cause obtained by Daily Voice.

A 29-year-old licensed nurse has been arrested following the death of a disabled man after a school bus ride in Morris County, authorities said.
Emelio J. Rivera, of Carlstadt, was charged with second-degree endangerment and neglect of a disabled person, Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said Thursday, Nov. 2.

Detectives have located and identified the body of the 22-year-old New Jersey college student from Nepal who was missing since January.
Ajay Sah, 22, was last seen Tuesday, Jan. 19 at Drew University around 8 p.m. and reported missing three days later around 4 p.m., Madison police said.

A North Jersey man sexually assaulted two children living under his care numerous times over the course of several years before fleeing to Tennessee and living under a fake identity for more than three decades, prosecutors said.
Richard A. Ziegler, 70, was in Roxbury when he performed “multiple sexual acts” on two children who had been living under his care between Dec. 1, 1981 and May 31, 1987, Acting Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll said in a Wednesday release.

A Morris County youth soccer coach exposed himself and sexually assaulted an 11-year-old player during a private lesson, authorities said Thursday.
Alejandro Almazan, 33, of Pompton Lakes, had the female victim jog with him to a private area within Independence Field in Riverdale on Aug. 9, Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp said.
