2 Jersey Shore Men Plead Guilty To Asbury Park Shooting Of 19-Year-Old: Prosecutor
Two men responsible for a 2020 shooting that left a 19-year-old victim critically injured in Asbury Park have both admitted to their roles in the crime, authorities said.
Malik J. Carey, 21, and Zyier M. Small, 20, both of Neptune Township, each pleaded guilty to charges of first-degree attempted murder and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in separate court hearings this week, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Lori Linskey.
They are scheduled for sentencing on April 1, Linskey said on Friday.

Two brothers have been arrested after an investigation of a Central Jersey narcotics distribution ring, authorities said.
Herbert Standard, 41, of Asbury Park, and Mark Standard, 40, of Oceanport, were arrested last week in connection with cocaine and heroin deals, according to Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.

Asbury Park Teen ID'd, Charged With Shooting Near Brick High School
An Asbury Park teenager has agreed to be prosecuted as an adult in last year's shooting outside an Ocean County high school, authorities said.
Alonzo Legrande, who is now 18, was charged as an adult on Thursday with four counts of attempted murder and weapons charges, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said.
Legrande was 17 when the crimes occurred, Billhimer said, and as a juvenile offender, his name was not released. But he has voluntarily waived Family Court jurisdiction, the prosecutor said.

Neptune Teens Arrested In Asbury Park Shooting, Victim Critical
Authorities have arrested a pair of teenagers in the Asbury Park shooting that left a third man in critical condition.
Zyier Small, 18, of Neptune and Malik Carey, 19, of Neptune City were taken into custody on Tuesday night shortly after a shooting at Asbury Park Village housing complex, Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said in a statement.
Small and Carey are charged with first conspiracy to commit murder, first attempted murder, hindering apprehension, obstruction and various weapon charges, Gramiccioni said.
